We grow up, and lose contact with friends and loved ones, and as we grow up, we happen to remember those that we miss from various places. It used to be nearly impossible to contact loved ones, or old friends before the internet became a hit. Now it is easy to find people for free, with the click of a button or three.
Since the internet has over 1 trillion web pages, and millions of those dedicated to finding lost people, its easier than ever to search for someone you may have lost contact with. The best part is that most of these services come at no cost to you. Online phone number directories are a great way to search for people. There are plenty of persons listed.

Elizabeth Hoover was having second thoughts.

When the English teacher and three colleagues met with the referees before Brookland-Cayce Highs first football game of the season, she questioned her sanity in choosing to become a member of what is thought to be South Carolinas first all-female chain crew.

(One referee) said Oct. 18 was the last game he worked, when he got run over on the sidelines, Hoover said.

Another told the women he had shattered both ankles and spent time in a wheelchair after getting caught in the middle of a play along the sideline while working the chains at a high school football game.

But Jessica Tillinghast, a lifelong football fan who teaches biology at Brookland-Cayce, had no doubts about her decision.

I said I better not get hurt, but there was still no way I was not going to do it, she said.

As autumn made its cold, soggy debut on Friday, the chain gang Hoover, Tillinghast, math teacher Sarah Cox and French teacher Bonnie Tucker worked the sidelines for the second time this season. A chain gang is responsible for marking where a team begins a series and how far it needs to go to for a first down.

Tillinghast was the first to sign on.

When the e-mail went out looking for volunteers, everybody knew I was going to do it, Tillinghast said.

Brookland-Cayce coach Abby Bray sent the e-mail in the summer looking for female volunteers after finding out the previous crew had retired.

I just wanted to do something different, just to change the mood a little bit and have a little fun with it, the first-year coach said. As far as I know, theres never been an all-female chain crew, so we figured, why not be the first?

James Day had his doubts.

For eight years he worked the chains at Brookland-Cayce home games with the four other men who retired.

I was the smallest one on my crew, and these ladies are all smaller than me, said Day, a 5-foot-9, 215-pound S.C. state trooper.

This year, he is showing the chain gang the ropes.

ve been run over twice, and its lots of pain. If you get hit, its usually in the legs, but that hurts and it can be very dangerous. And thats what my major concern was, Day said.

He met with the women for 30 minutes the day before the first game to go over the basics:

Mark the line of scrimmage first;

Dont move until the referee signals first down;

Move quickly.

But most importantly, he said, if players are getting close, drop the chains and run.

These kids are bigger and stronger than us, so you cant take any chances, he said.

Players offered the teachers all kinds of other advice, Tillinghast said.

She needed new cleats, they said, and thick skin to deal with trash talk from the visiting teams players.

And she could not cheer from her spot on the visiting sideline.

That was the hardest part, Tillinghast said.

With the Bearcats trailing Lugoff-Elgin 7-0 on Friday in the first quarter and driving, Tillinghast began to get excited. She allowed her self a few seconds of clapping and fist-pumping, and she shouted when Jacob Twitty lunged in from the 1-yard line to tie the score.

This is the best part, but its hard not to cheer, she said.

The view from the sideline is not new to Cox.

While studying abroad in England, she was roped into joining the chain crew for an English team in an American-style football league.

The English players took it so much more seriously because they wanted to make sure the game was played exactly the way Americans play, Cox said.

She met her fiance, Brian Lowery, while she was in Texas at the 2006 Liberty Bowl as a member of the USC band.

She knows her way around a football field, so I dont worry about her, Lowery said. If she can survive in the tunnel at USC before their games, she can handle high school football players.

While Cox enjoys the game, she said its more important her students see what she is doing.

I believe you have to support your students in the classroom and out, that knowing that you do helps them to be more successful, she said. Cox has several football players in her probability and statistics classes and said they are doing well.

I cant say its just because of this, but I believe it has helped, she said. I can always keep football players awake in my class.

Tucker has got her students attention, too.

They were so thrilled to see their teachers out there when we first came out, she said.

Though still knows little about the game, Tucker has a new appreciation of the effort her students and colleagues give after the school day ends.

I understand better all of the work that goes into it, and it has made me very aware of a whole different skill that the kids cant use in the classroom but that is a part of school, she said.

Senior running back Demetrius Jackson was surprised to learn his French teacher would be on the sideline at his football games.

He said seeing his teachers near the field, decked out in the hot-pink T-shirts Tillinghast designed, is encouraging.

s good for us to know that our teachers care about us even when we are not in school, he said. They are interested in what we do, and that makes us go harder because we do want to make them proud.

Though none of the football players are in her classes, Hoover believes being part of the chain gang helps her relate to her students.

It has made me more empathetic to what we ask our students to do on a daily basis: to learn something new, to try something that maybe they are not that good at or something they dont think interests them, she said. But how often do we do that? How often do we step out of our comfort zones and do something different? Thats what Im doing here.

Hoover is not a sports fan and is bewildered by the game, for the most part. But she is learning quickly.

With the Bearcats driving against Lugoff-Elgin on Friday, Hoover marked the yardage necessary for a first down. As instructed, she was focused on the game. A Bearcats player got the ball at the near hash about 5 yards upfield and started trucking toward the end zone.

When he collided with a Lugoff-Elgin player, Hoover perked up. A split second later, the players were tangled and sliding on the rain-slicked grass toward her.

She dropped the chains and ran.

I read this book quickly and learned:
(1) Beyond the fact that I am too old to enter high finance, either as a trader or analyst, had I been so lucky in my twenties, I would not have lasted long. The deception and dirtiness involved are repellent. In light of the periodic economic destruction wrought by Wall Street, it is amazing that much of what Wall Street does is even legal. Perhaps I would have been momentarily comforted by the self-serving spin of Wall Street, the spin that points to Wall Streets role in providing money to the real economy (by allocating savings to investments) and providing a liquid secondary market in securities. But this is so much bullshit, a thin cover for an unchecked greed without regard for real-world consequences. (Maybe thats a little strong, but it does seem that the legitimate role of Wall Street has been eclipsed by attempts at creating money machines.)
(2) Lewiss self-awareness and complicity in this fraud makes me wonder how sincere his conversion is. He at times acknowledges a belief that he did wrong by his customers. We are meant to be on his side (its his book, after all). But if he convincingly fleeced his customers then, what prevents him from fleecing his readers now, telling us what we want to hear? We want to hear that Wall Street is an empty fraud with few good actors. And Lewis delivers. But not before he benefited mightily. I am reminded of St. Augustines prayer: Grant me chastity and continence, but not yet (da mihi castitatem et continentiam, sed noli modo).
(3) Nevertheless, the stories Lewis tells are instructive and serve as useful warning for anyone who invests. There is so much that a person must know to avoid getting screwed by Wall Street. Even if Wall Street is screwing institutional investors (pension funds, endowments), we are the ones who ultimately pay. The default attitude toward Wall Street must be distrust. In sum, Distrust, and verify. And buy cheap index funds.
Nevertheless, he is a good writer and gets off some good anecdotes and bon mots:
(1) Never agree to anything proposed on someone elses boat, or youll regret it in the morning (p. 67).
(2) Apparently you need to be an asshole to get by on Wall Street (see the story beginning on page 75). I am reminded of the popular advice for people who find themselves in prison: Attack someone on the first day to show everyone not to mess with you.
(3) The government is almost as responsible for creating the conditions for obscene Wall Street profits as Wall Street is in taking them (see Lewiss discussion of the changes in tax law that motivated thrifts to sell their loans beginning on page 103).
(4) Some people are born to be customers (p171).
(5) How to think about trading opportunities (pp 175-177) in reaction to world events.
(6) The story of how someone else took his trading idea and how he got his revenge.
(7) The story of how management kept their firm afloat when it should have been taken over.
(8) Luck may be more important than skill. How his company was in the right place and right time to take advantage of mortgage loans but not junk bonds.
(9) . . .when an investment banker starts talking about principles, he is usually also defending his interests and that he rarely stakes out the moral high ground unless he believes there is gold under his campsite (p 227).

The UK is the first powerful country in the world to pass laws allowing for the regulation of online gaming. By this September, gambling on the internet will be completely legal in the United Kingdom. Their intention is to invite offshore casinos, which are currently based on third-world islands, to come do business on their free land. Once the transition occurs, the UK will be in position to regulate and tax the 10 billion pound-a-year industry. Over the past year, the UK parliament has actively pursued laws to enable legalized and regulated online gambling within their territory. Taxation plans are currently being negotiated.

Other countries like Italy, who first banned all forms of web based wagering, are now moving to complete legalization through proper regulation. Spain and South Africa are following suit, helping to bring Internet gambling acceptance to the global marketplace. There are some countries, like Germany and France, who are leaning towards prohibition, but their purpose is to protect land-based casino gambling operations. However, protectionism goes against European Union standards and many challenges lay ahead for the liberal continent. At the opposite end of the debate, the United States has declared a prohibitive stance towards the industry citing moral issues as their argument, however they do allow brick and mortar casinos, lotteries, bingo halls, and horse racing tracks to operate legally on their land.

The Internet gambling industry changes on a month-by-month basis. Keeping up with all the current events and latest newsworthy happenings takes time and devotion. It is our duty and pleasure at Casino Gambling Web to perform this job on your behalf. We take great pride in delivering quality and relevant news pertaining to the industry so be sure to stay tuned.

Take a typical nightmarish dream sequence you may have deep in the night, add ponderous acrobatics and aerobatics, an eerie story of clowns, death and a funeral, sprinkle in a carnival-like atmosphere ripe with little people and balloons, and inject a heart-pounding live, original score that combines with strange scenes that surround you like a psychedelics-infused blanket, and youve got Corteo.
Last night I went to the Boston show of Corteo, another installment of the hugely popular Cirque Du Soleil. Its a circus, a theatrical musical, a gymnastics show and more. The audience surrounds a perfect circular stage, all under a gigantic big top that successfully blocks out every single photon of outside light.
The entire circle, both stage and audience stands, is sliced in half by two curtains that were a semi-transparent gauze. Between these ephemeral barriers stand the props and actors/athletes who begin the spectacle.
The story is essentially about a clowns funeral, although it took all six of my group to determine the exact plot post-show. It opens with a clown on his death bed, I think, although almost everything is a tinge unclear. And the ongoing mumblings of this doomed clown are in Italian to boot, so it was often tough following things. But he did take pity on the crowd occasionally and would blurt something out in English.
Its difficult to put into words what I witnessed next. The lights and stage were gold, yellow, and earthy, the music was soothing yet bizarre, and this clown sat on a bed while accosted by all kinds of characters. They all started running by him on either side of the bed. Clowns prodded him, small men and women with sculpted bodies spun his bed around, and beautiful angle-wing laden women in tights clinging to elaborate and ornate chandeliers floated above him.
The whole thing truly felt like some kind of mildly disturbing dream. And not just watching the dream, but actually experiencing the darn thing. The were rotated through strange and compelling theatrics and absolutely jaw-dropping acrobatics.
The performers started bouncing on three different beds, flipping over each other, onto other beds and actually dribbling each other, all the while the stage rotated at a stately pace. They bounced around the stage like super balls ricocheting around a metal room. Then the ornate chandeliers that hung over the bed which had beautiful women hanging from them began to swing. The woman swung themselves around the entire place, all the while writhing and climbing among the chandelier lights and chains.
It seemed like the shows wardrobe was 18th century French or Italian, with mens ballooning pants at the thighs, and capes and sharp collars, as they acted out some of the plot. But interjected in the plot were amazing physical feats. For instance, there was a scene where both men and women held onto man-sized sturdy hula-hoops that they spun around in while hanging on. They looked like they were just tossed onto the spinning circular stage out of the pocket of some benevolent giant.
From the roof came a steady air raid of angles that hung on to wires and floated around the set handing various props to the actors.
The second half was even more stunning than the first. It opened with some of the performers bouncing along a skinny, long trampoline that cut through the diameter of the stage. And then the trapeze act started above. Never a mistake, never a slip, just crazy body flinging at its finest.
Its funny because I recently heard Howard Stern (the radio jock) try to get one of his regular listeners to do a stunt for his Sirius Satellite radio show. He wants Eric the Midget to fly with balloons by strapping him into something that would allow him to float from a bunch of balloons in Sterns studio. The whole thing is hilarious since Eric is ornery and stubborn and wont agree to it. Howard tries to continuously talk Eric into doing it, ostensibly a great idea that will launch Eric into stardom, really a thinly-veiled attempt at a desire for some good radio.
But Cirque Du Soleils Corteo beat Howard Stern to the punch. A little person flew, and it was magnificent, but it wasnt on the Howard Stern show.
It was one of the most memorable scenes of the second half, and my favorite. It was a little person floating by balloons. Her name was Valentina, and her size was probably about three feet tall. The kooky Cirque people strapped Valentina into a little harness that was attached to five or six large, helium-filled balloons. I am not kidding. A teeny, tiny three-foot-tall woman named Valentina was floated around the inside of the big top by a bushel of weather balloons.
Whats more, she actually drifted over us, the audience, and would eventually descend onto the frenzied crowd. The clown on the stage instructed us to hold two hands up like a platform as Valentina came down out of the air. She would proceed to push off the pair of hands, squealing away like an exuberant pixie.
The stunts in the second half were amazing. A man climbed up and down a ladder that was not leaning against anything. A woman traversed a high wire on her tip toes like a ballerina, then proceeded to climb up another high wire that was at a 45 degree angle! And more gymnasts performed intricate, synchronized parallel bar feats.
The show ended with the whole crew out on the stage, the clowns, the gymnasts, the actors, Valentina, everyone. They all waved goodbye to the star clown who was flying up into the rafters, pedaling a bike that was suspended fifty feet in the air, and drifted away to heaven.
Throughout the show I looked over at the friends I was with and invariably saw lots of smiles. I was thoroughly entranced the entire time, and I would absolutely recommend Cirques Corteo to anyone, from eight to eighty years old. It was a great experience and I think it would be a great place to bring your kids, or a date.

The much anticipated Pedowitz Report has been released. You can read the 133 page document by visiting http://www.nba.com/media/PedowitzReport.pdf. If you are just interested in the bottom line conclusions, the NBA has issued a two page press release that contains four crucial bullet points:

Along with his recommendations, Mr. Pedowitz reported the following findings:

• He found no evidence that any NBA referee other than Mr. Donaghy bet on NBA games or leaked confidential NBA information to gamblers, and no evidence that phone calls between referee Scott Foster and Donaghy were attributable to criminal activity.

• He found no evidence that any referee miscalled a game to favor a particular team or player, or that the League has asked referees to call games to favor particular teams or players.

• He found no evidence to support specific allegations of game manipulation or misconduct made by Mr. Donaghy and his attorney in June 2008, including allegations regarding a 2005 playoff series between the Dallas Mavericks and the Houston Rockets and a 2002 playoff series between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings.

• He found that a number of referees engaged in forms of gambling other than betting on NBA games, in violation of League rules. The League previously decided not to discipline referees for these violations.

Pedowitz and his investigators were not able to interview Donaghy directly but according to the report they "conducted approximately 200 interviews," speaking with 57 referees plus numerous team and league executives. I read the entire report and my initial impression is that it will not change too many people's minds: those who believe either in some NBA "conspiracy" to affect the outcome of games and/or those who simply believe that NBA officiating is bad will still believe those things, while those who believe that the NBA has done the best job that it can will say that the Pedowitz investigation offers substantial proof that this is the case. My opinion is that there is no conspiracy to alter the outcomes of games/playoff series and that the NBA referees are among the best in all sports but that the NBA must be vigilant not only to avoid impropriety but the perception of impropriety and that the NBA should be more aware of the personal conduct of referees on and off the court.

It is clearly problematic that neither Pedowitz nor the NBA were able to speak with Donaghy and Pedowitz's report acknowledges this without dwelling on the issue. Without talking to Donaghy, Pedowitz and his investigators basically had to resort to context clues and process of elimination deduction to even figure out which games should be looked at more closely. Of course, even the most casual NBA fan immediately realized that two of Donaghy's most well publicized accusations concerned the 2005 playoff series between Dallas and Houston and the 2002 playoff series between L.A. and Sacramento. The Pedowitz Report looks at both series in great detail but if you just interested in the bottom line here is what the Pedowitz Report concluded:

Dallas-Houston, 2005 Playoff Series:

We have found no evidence of any inappropriate conduct in this playoff series. There is no evidence that anyone in the League office or any of the referees were intending to favor one team over another. Based at least in part on the Mavericks’ complaints, the League identified a type of erroneous non-call that referees had made in prior games and sought to correct it for future games. While Van Gundy continues to take issue with how he believes the message to correct the erroneous non-calls was delivered to the referees, he does not believe the referees or anyone else intentionally sought to manipulate a game or injure his team.

This incident has caused us to focus on the process by which team complaints about officiating are received and resolved. As we discuss in our Recommendations, we believe that all team complaints about officiating during the playoffs and the League’s response to those complaints should be posted for both teams to see.

L.A.-Sacramento, 2002 Playoff Series:

The game was, in the opinion of the reviewers, poorly officiated. There were a total of fifteen incorrect calls or non-calls. Of these fifteen errors, eight favored the Lakers, while seven favored the Kings. The bulk of the game’s incorrect calls and non-calls occurred during the first three quarters. In the critical fourth quarter, there were only three incorrect calls or non-calls: two favored the Lakers and one favored the Kings. The officiating errors were found to be distributed among the three referees as follows:

• (Dick) Bavetta made nine errors in the game, five of which favored the Lakers and four of which favored the Kings. None of these errors occurred in the fourth quarter.
• (Ted) Bernhardt made six errors, four of which favored the Lakers and two of which favored the Kings. In the fourth quarter, Bernhardt made one error favoring the Lakers.
• (Bob) Delaney made four errors in the game, two of which favored the Lakers and two of which favored the Kings. In the fourth quarter, Delaney made three of his errors: two favoring the Lakers and one favoring the Kings.

The gist of the Pedowitz Report's findings regarding this game is that it was poorly officiated but that there is no evidence that the referees intentionally did a bad job. However, there is an interesting passage about the interactions between Dick Bavetta and Bob Delaney that is disquieting; if two high profile referees have personal issues that may be affecting the quality of their officiating when they are on the same crew then the league should either compel them to resolve those issues, never assign them to work together or terminate one or both referees. Here is how the Pedowitz Report explains what happened during this game and in particular why two rather infamous calls were incorrectly made:

We also discussed Donaghy’s allegations with Ed T. Rush, who was Director of Officials at the time. Rush was present in the arena and supervised the referees during the game. He told us that he was well aware during the game that the referees were having a bad game and making errors. Rush told us that he has reviewed the video of this game on a number of occasions, and the pattern of calls, in his opinion, do not reflect favoritism. He added that it was also inconceivable to him that any of the referees would set out intentionally to extend a series. He pointed out that all of the referees are in competition each year to officiate playoff games and said it was impossible for him to believe any referee would deliberately make erroneous calls and subject himself or herself to having their calls repeatedly reviewed and criticized by the media.

Rush told us he thought that Bernhardt’s performance that night had been satisfactory, and nothing about his performance suggested that he was trying to favor either team. As to Bavetta, while he made a substantial number of errors, Rush felt there was nothing about his call patterns that suggested he was deliberately trying to favor the Lakers. Rush also noted that Bavetta had performed well in the fourth quarter, making no errors.

As to Delaney, Rush was aware that he was involved in the two most controversial calls in the fourth quarter--plays that Donaghy appears to single out as suggesting manipulation. Rush told us that he has known Delaney for many years and believes Delaney is a highly honorable person. He noted that Delaney had been a highly decorated law enforcement officer before he joined the NBA. (Delaney served with the New Jersey State Police for fourteen years before becoming an NBA referee. Delaney’s career included a three-year undercover assignment in connection with a major organized crime investigation. In 1981, Delaney testified as a law enforcement expert before a Senate subcommittee during hearings on waterfront corruption. Senators Warren Rudman and Sam Nunn praised him for his effectiveness and bravery. To this day, Delaney regularly gives speeches at federal law enforcement training sessions and to undercover operatives in the United States and Canada.)

Rush also recalled that Delaney made only a few errors but was nonetheless quite upset with the errors he had made in the fourth quarter. Having known and observed Delaney on and off the floor, and knowing how hard he tried to avoid mistakes, Rush said that he could not imagine Delaney ever deliberately manipulating a game. Rush told us that he had been in touch with Delaney and his wife after the game and learned that Delaney was so upset about his performance in that game that he had suffered sleepless nights.

Rush also told us that he thought that it had been a mistake (for which he took some responsibility) to have teamed Delaney with Bavetta in this game. While Delaney and Bavetta once had a close friendship, they had a falling out in connection with a personal matter some years before this game, and Rush felt that the poor chemistry between the two referees contributed to the crew’s poor performance in this game.

We reviewed the video of this game and discussed with NBA Basketball Operations personnel the erroneous call against Divac and the non-call against Bryant. They explained to us how Delaney and Bernhardt (on the second call) could have missed these calls. The first play, which resulted in Divac receiving his sixth foul, came while Divac was on the floor battling for the ball. Delaney saw numerous players in the scramble and blew his whistle as Bryant was moving in front of him, obstructing his view of the play. The instinct to make a call was understandable; Delaney just made the wrong one.

The second play occurred with twelve seconds left in the game, when Kobe Bryant, trying to free himself on an inbounds play, elbowed Mike Bibby in the face. While Bryant’s elbow, though seemingly inadvertent, was a foul, it occurred only after Bibby grabbed Bryant’s arms in what appears to be an effort to prevent him from freeing himself to receive the inbounds pass. Delaney was positioned on the baseline at an angle that prevented him from getting a good look at the play. Bibby had his back to Delaney, and contact of the nature of the elbow to Bibby’s nose is often incidental. The blood from Bibby’s nose was not seen until later. Bernhardt was the slot official at the time. Bryant moved away from Bernhardt’s position, so Bernhardt also did not have a good angle to see Bryant’s elbow to Bibby. Indeed, the Basketball Operations personnel told us that the television camera had by far the best view of this play.

As noted above, we also re-interviewed all of the current referees after Donaghy’s allegations surfaced in June 2008. There was not a single referee among the dozens we interviewed who supported Donaghy’s claims about this game. The referees told us that the consistent message from the League is to make accurate calls. It has never been suggested to them that they should favor a team or try to extend a series.

Some referees also told us that no rational referee would deliberately make incorrect calls in a game (let alone a playoff game) and subject him or herself to the embarrassment of having calls replayed over and over on ESPN. Some told us that not only was the allegation illogical for that reason, but there also is no economic incentive for referees to try to extend a series. While a referee receives additional compensation for each round of the playoffs he or she officiates, this compensation is the same for a given round whether a referee officiates one or two games in that playoff round.

A number of referees also noted that, because of the strained personal relationship between Delaney and Bavetta, the two men were unlikely to engage in any cooperative venture, let alone one that involved clearly improper conduct. A number of referees also offered the following observation: Game 6 was a controversial game with which almost every veteran referee is familiar. Because it is well known that the referees made numerous errors in the game, it was easy for Donaghy--trying to avoid a jail sentence by providing information about other referees--to suggest that he had a conversation with one of the referees to the effect that two of them hoped to extend the series.

One of the referees told us that he had discussed this game with Donaghy years earlier. While Donaghy had noted the many errors by the referees, he never suggested that he had heard that referees in this game made bad calls to extend the series. We also found it noteworthy that, while referee basketball gossip travels quickly throughout the referee ranks, the referees had not heard any suggestion that Bavetta and Delaney had tried to extend the series.

We have not seen or heard evidentiary or logical support for Donaghy’s allegations about this game.

Any person who is objective realizes that even the best referees are going to miss some calls for a variety of reasons and that fans watching games on TV have the benefit of numerous camera angles plus instant replay, luxuries that the referees do not have; they get one chance at full speed to make the right call. The bottom line is that coaches, players and referees all make mistakes. That is just part of the game. The goal for all parties concerned is to minimize those mistakes. In game seven of the Lakers-Kings 2002 series, the Kings lost by six points in overtime after shooting just 16-30 from the free throw line; if they made more of those free throws then they would have won the series even though the referees did not have a great game six. I think that it is reckless and irresponsible to say that game six was "fixed." I would suggest that anyone who says this take a look at his or her own job performance and consider what standard he or she expects to be held to and if that standard equals the call accuracy that NBA officials maintain.

5 Stars Awesome Stereo
Kenwood DNX5120

I June 5, 2008, I purchased and had Platinum Audio in Corona, California install my DNX5120. I have had Sony, Alpine, and Kenwood stereos prior and have experimented with iPod connections to these stereos. The stereos killed two of my iPods. The DNX5120 broke all the rules and really exceeded my expectations as far as the iPod interface. The integration is clean, easy to understand, and faster to use than the iPod itself. Here is an example. I have countless artists on my iPod. Using the scroll wheel it take time to scroll through the artist until letters come up and to be honest with you, it takes me a least two tries to land on the right letter. Using the DNX5120, I can scroll down by multiple artist and even click on slide bar to go half the way down my list or all the way down. All this at the speed of just pressing button and not waiting for the iPod or the stereo to catch up.

The navigation is dummy proof. I have used the BMW, Toyota, Magellan, Tom Tom, and Honda navigation and the DNX5120 blows them out of the water. It does not get any easier than this. I have read that it takes a long time to start up. I dont see that problem. Once I start my vehicle, the Kenwood screen appears for about 5 seconds and I am off to the races. After all, it is not good for the vehicle if you start and immediately drive.

I dont have any complaints about the stereo. Here are some things I really like;

* Knob for volume. It feel sturdy and I like touching the screen less than I have too

* Clean font, easy to read

* Quick/easy/instant access from user interface to navigation and back

* Easy to understand hierarchy of menu

* Garmin Nav. is easy to use and easy to upgrade

* No need for second DVD box for nav.

* Excellent GPS signal quality

* Ability to watch iPod movies on screen

* USB connectionI like putting my on photo as a background

The bottom line is the shop did an outstanding job the installation and the DNX5120 works better than what I had expected. When you put this stereo in perspective, it is combining a tuner, a DVD player, an audio iPod, a video ipod, XM, and CD/MP3 player together into one unit with none to little glitches. And if you are an Apple fan like myself, this works perfectly with the iPod.

This is an excellent SI article that while not specifically about MLS (in fact the article doesn't even mention soccer) has resonance for Galaxy fans.
This season especially has seen many of these, um, symptoms appear in Carson.
Beatlemania like screams every time David Beckham touches the ball. Flash bulbs exploding around Home Depot Center like so many LSD flashbacks. And generally uneducated fans who don't appear to appreciate they are watching a godawful team.
Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane once complained about the lack of atmosphere at Old Trafford caused by a surfeit of the prawn sandwich eating crowd - read ignorant corporate types - sitting on their hands rather than supporting their team.
I don't mind rich guys subsidizing the masses (thanks Uncle Phil). I just don't want them taking over to the extent a sporting event becomes like a night at the opera. (It's depressing when fans tell me the nitwits behind them complain about them standing up - after a Galaxy goal has been scored!).
Of course, the Galaxy has been so abysmal this season there's been precious little to shout about, although the likes of the Riot Squad are doing their utmost (thanks guys).
But in the main it's a stadium full of people so thrilled to watch a global superduper star like Becks they can't see beyond to the quality of football on display. Which has, generally speaking, been crap.
Nevertheless, the Galaxy have increased their ticket prices each year despite missing the playoffs three years in a row (there's a prediction in there).
Season ticket holders reportedly dropped 15 percent this season. And are likely to fall again in the coming one. I'm getting more and more anecdotal reports via e-mail, on this blog and in person of fans who say to me: "I can't bring myself to watch this lot anymore. It's a waste of money."
That's telling me the knowledgeable fans who understand the game know what product they are seeing: a bland corporate one unlikely to get the most ardent soccer fans to return. They'll sit home and watch Stoke City play Hull City (no disrespect to Hull, unexpectedly lighting up the EPL this season so far) rather than support MLS.
The game is being undermined by the suits. That's not what the sport is about. The casual fan - such as families - who understand the democracy of soccer are endangered.
And if that's the case, so is the authenticity of the game itself.

I get what people say when they criticize Manny Ramirez for what he says and how he acts off the field.  Truth be told, some of sports greatest superstars have been noted as being crazy, egotistic, and for lack of a better word assholes.  Manny Ramirez is grouped into this team of players for his antics and joins guys like Dennis Rodman, Barry Bonds, and Terrell Owens.
But the bottom line is if you wouldnt want to add a player of this caliber to your team than your goal is not winning.  All of these guys are incredible athletes and each of them are among the best in their sport.
Just look at what Manny Ramirez has done since joining the Dodgers  Not only did he assist them in taking over 1st place in their division to make the playoffs, but he took them from being 4 games out of first place.
In 53 regular season games with the Dodgers, Manny batted an amazing .396 while hitting 17 home runs and driving in 53 runs.  Who wouldnt want to add a player like that to their line-up?  In fact, Manny may be the best trade deadline pick-up of all-time.
So here is the question I pose to you.  Of all of the players in the major leagues today, who could have stepped in and done the same or better than what Manny has done in LA??  How many others have this kind of talent and ability to contribute at this level??
Go ahead.

The carcinogens found in cigarettes are part of the correlation between smoking and heart disease. These chemicals get absorbed into the blood stream. As a result, the blood becomes contaminated and as the blood is pumped through the heart, the nicotine from the cigarettes also builds up in the blood stream. The blood becomes thicker, which can lead to clots. Also, the nicotine will build up in the valves leading to the heart, which can cause a heart attack. So, now that you know the correlation between smoking and heart disease, you really should consider stopping smoking. If you have just started smoking, you are at an advantage when it comes to your health, because the nicotine has not had sufficient amount of time to cause those serious health problems yet. However, if you have been smoking for years, your health is in trouble if you continue smoking. There are a variety of ways that you can quit smoking and thus prevent heart disease. Ask your doctor for various treatment methods. You are sure to find a method that works for you, a method that could save your life as well as your health.

Escalating bankruptcies in the property sector and among small businesses, along with fears of a global recession, have dragged Japans export-dependent economy into the crisis, sending blue chip shares sliding by a quarter so far this week.
The government said it may revive a bank rescue law from the 1990s Japanese banking crisis, with one report suggesting Tokyo may set up a $100 billion fund to prop up smaller lenders.
Japanese leaders are increasingly worried about the stock falls, after arguing for months that the worlds No.2 economy had avoided the worst of the global financial crisis.
(Share prices) have fallen to the level where they can hurt firms funding. So I have instructed the ruling coalition to come up with steps, Prime Minister Taro Aso told reporters.
The yen soared as investors fled riskier investments elsewhere, while Japanese bonds were crunched as bond dealers sought cash.
Japans Yamato Life Insurance Co, an unlisted insurer, failed with $2.7 billion in debt, although government ministers and analysts were quick to play down the risk of contagion.
Yamato pursued higher risk investments and was not typical of Japans insurance sector, said Economics Minister Kaoru Yosano.
It is the smallest company in our nations insurance sector, he told reporters. The incident is a failure of a company that had a unique business model.

I walk most of my rounds of golf and I play on a lot of hilly courses. By the time Im finished my feet cant wait for the moment of ecstasy when the shoes come off. Ive worn a lot of different brands of golf shoes in my day and I cant say Ive ever found one thats as comfortable as a good sneaker or walking shoe.
It must have something to do with those spikes on the bottom. It feels like most of my weight is being supported by those little suckers as they dig into the sole of my foot.
I also do a lot of trail hiking over hill and dale and my feet dont ache nearly as much as they do after a round of golf. All this got me to thinking that if I could find a good hiking type of shoe for golfing Id feel much better at the end of my round.
So I looked in sporting goods stores for something that would be comfortable, give me great support, be waterproof and allow me to hit golf balls in all conditions without slipping. That last item is particularly important. Ive discovered over the years that soft spikes have a lot of drawbacks in that area.
Try playing with the grass wet, right after a mowing and see how long it takes for your spikes to be useless because theyre completely clogged. Youve been there, so you know that point comes about 10 feet up the first fairway. Its even more of a problem with dead leaves if you play in the Fall.
I chose a trail-running shoe which is basically a cross between a hiking boot and a sneaker. Theyre low cut, waterproof and have a very aggressive tread. After all, if youre going to run through the woods, up and down over rocks, you cant be slipping and sliding.
I ended up buying the North Face Ultra 104 Gore-Tex XCR trail running shoe from REI. Thankfully its easier to buy than say. Im in love. Ive only worn my golf shoes once this season since I bought these babies and thats because I was playing as a guest at a fancy club and didnt want to embarrass my host.
When I finish a round I no longer sprint to the car to change my shoes. Because theyre Gore-Tex lined and made for the trail, they can take any kind of watery conditions on the course with ease. And Ive never had a problem with slipping, even standing on a dewy hillside hitting a ball below my feet. Im not going back to golf shoes until the manufacturers start thinking outside the box.
Todays golf shoes may look stylish, but they leave a lot to be desired when it comes to function. Footjoy, Ecco and the rest, go send your RD people to the local camping store and combine the best of both worlds into a modern stylish, comfortable and practical golf shoe. And dont forget to leave those silly little plastic things off the bottom. They last about 2 rounds at best and dont work at all when its wet or its Fall.

The other 2/3 of the TT will have the helm until Monday, but I have a few things scheduled to post in my absence. Have a relaxing weekend and send a little extra love the Vols' way so we can see a 'W' on Saturday night.

Fantasy Football sit/start recs - WEEK 6

like it.
Miami Dolphins @ Houston Texans
Chris says: START QB Matt Schaub. If you dont have one of the elite fantasy football quarterbacks, this would be a good time to scoop up Matt Schaub. After an excellent road performance against the Jaguars, Matt will start his first home game of the season against the Dolphins. After throwing for 3 TDs in his last game, Schaub also figures to get back on the same page with Andre Johnson, who broke out last week after a slow start.
Baltimore Ravens @ Indianapolis Colts
Matt says: START RB Le’Ron McClain. I’m not sold that McGahee is 100%, as he keeps coming up gimpy. Besides which, McClain is the goal line and short yardage guy and you saw how much success Super Steve had in the red zone against these fools last week.
New England Patriots @ San Diego Chargers
Chris says: START WR Wes Welker. Heres why you need to start Welker - simply stated, hes due. Despite his drop-off in scoring (zero TDs so far this season) hes still on pace to catch 108 balls this year. Hes got to score sometime, and even if he doesnt - in PPR leagues hell still post solid numbers.
Oakland Raiders @ New Orleans Saints
Matt says: SIT RB Michael Bush. I’m gonna say that the Raiders ride the D-Mac Express early and often in this one and that Bush doesn’t top 4 fantasy points. I mean, honestly, assuming he’s even 90%, why would you not work the hell out of McFadden against a bad D?
Cincinnati Bengals @ New York Jets
Chris says: START WR Laveranues Coles. All the lack of chemistry issues between Coles and Favre are behind them now, and with the Bengals across the line of scrimmage - at home? Psshh, please - Favre might have another 6 TD game in him.
Detroit Lions @ Minnesota Vikings
Matt says: START WR Roy Williams. You would have thought that Williams was going to be option 1 this year in Detroit, but Calvin Johnson seems to have (rightfully) passed him. Still, with the trade deadline looming two days after this game, look for the Lions to try and get him the ball just a little more to drive his price up for would-be suitors. Chris adds: On top of that, Williams was targeted an eye-popping 18 times last week. Williams seems to be trying to snatch that #1 WR status back from CJ.
Chicago Bears @ Atlanta Falcons
Chris says: START RB Michael Turner. Turner could struggle against Chicagos highly-ranked run defense, but the Bears havent been great against the pass, which could set Turner up for some success in the red zone. Its tough to even consider sitting Turner right now, but his performance has definitely been up and down according to the opponents quality. Despite that, start Turner this week.
St. Louis Rams @ Washington Redskins
Matt says: START QB Jason Campbell. I am this close to giving Campbell “must start” status over all but a handful of guys, at least until Jason does something to prove me wrong. That sure as heck won’t be this week as the Rams’ defense is still putrid, regardless of who is coaching. Campbell should have a field day.
Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Chris says: START QB Jake Delhomme. The Panthers are on the road in a tough divisional matchup, but the Bucs have given up 8 passing TDs this season, and Delhomme is steadily improving after a rocky start (save for that first game against the Chargers). Delhomme has two TD passes in each of his last two games.
Green Bay Packers @ Seattle Seahawks
Matt says: SIT QB Matt Hasselbeck. It should go without saying right now, but this Seahawks offense looks horrid and Matt is dinged to boot. Sit Hasselbeck and, seriously, consider dropping him outright.
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Denver Broncos
Chris says: SIT WR Eddie Royal. Im almost always in favor of starting Royal, but hes got an ankle issue this week - and while reports suggest it looks like hell be able to go, he could turn the ankle early and then what have you got? On top of that, Brandon Stokley has been gaining steam as a legitimate threat to Eddies #2 WR spot - at least in terms of fantasy numbers. When Royals back to 100%, I really think Royal will re-affirm himself in that high-powered Bronco offense.
Philadelphia Eagles @ San Francisco 49ers
Matt says: SIT RB Brian Westbrook. I know he’s tough and I know he wants to play, but even if he gets out there, one hit could have him back on the sidelines for the rest of the day. Assuming you aren’t in some kind of bye week hell, don’t risk getting nothing from one of your RBs. Just sit Westbrook and plug in someone else.
Dallas Cowboys @ Arizona Cardinals
Chris says: START WR Steve Breaston. Anquan Boldin is out for this game, and Breaston will start in his place. The Cardinals will essentially be playing on the road in front of thousands and thousands of Cowboy fans in their own home stadium. They figure to get behind big, and the Cardinal offense has been known to excel in garbage time.
New York Giants @ Cleveland Browns
Matt says: START Giants Defense. Remember a few weeks back when the Giants D feasted on the Rams? Well, this game won’t be quite like that, but look for that line to notch you at least two sacks and force whomever is QBing the Browns into at least one pick.
SLEEPER PICKS
QB
Matt – Jon Kitna. The Vikings D, rush or otherwise, has not been as good as advertised this year and I think the Lions’ two WRs match up well with them. Add in that I think the Lions are trying to showcase Roy Williams this week so they can cash in on him in a trade and I look for nearly 300 yards and 2 scores.
Chris – Kyle Orton. This is crazy-talk. Orton was my sleeper last week, this week - Im uh him again if you are hurting at QB. The Falcons have given up 9 passing TDs this season, and 220+ yards per game. The Bears should come to town and give Atlanta a stiff test for their untrustworthy 3-2 record.
RB
Matt – I should have saved Le’Ron McClain for this one, but I didn’t, so I’ll go with Correll Buckhalter. SOMEONE is going to get some decent yardage against the Niners and I really think C-Buck is the guy this week.
Chris – Matt had him last week, this week Ill trot him out. Chester Taylor. With the constant fear that the Vikings will run Adrian Peterson into the ground, they could easily give Taylor a full load in the second half if Detroit rolls over and gets blown out like they always do. Taylor also has a knack for hauling in a few catches when he sees the field.
WR
Matt – Chansi Stuckey. The Bengals aren’t stopping anyone, so the Jets’ #3 WR should be a nice sneaky play if you are looking for a bye week fill-in. He won’t rack up a ton of catches, but 5 for 45 and a TD is a distinct possibility.
Chris - Devin Hester. Atlanta has not been good against the pass, and Hester seems to be getting his feet under him as a wide receiver. On top of that, hes of course always a threat as a return man, and you could argue that hes due for a big game at either or both positions.

Taylormade Golf Clubs required tight manufacturing tolerances and continual product testing and development ensure that they are a consitent quality and performing product. It is absolutely amazing the lengths that are pursued to ensure nothing but the hihgest quality products are made available to customers. What you get is a very exacting and high performance piece of kit.
Considerable variety and ingenuity is a hallmark of the brand that is known as Taylormade golf. A large golf club product offering is at hand from Taylormade golf who also specialise in golf accessories. Industry forefront computer aided design and product simulations all add a considerable benefit to eventual product characteristics for golfers.
The response to the release has been nothing short of phenomenal for Taylormade Golf Clubs. Usually I dont get too excited about something like this but my first use rekindled an old fire. These are not only physically pleasing to look at but have a vast ability to perform under all conditions.
Tour design and shape incorporate Low center of gravity higher MOI and less spin than conventional ironss delivering ideal launch conditions and playability for mid to high swing speeds and the aspirational golfer. Taylormade Golf Clubs controls gapping consistency in the 5 - 7 irons via a hollow back design. CGB RAC R7 Burner. 8 - PW. Cavity-back design and shaping designed to maximize forgiveness yet still appeal to the better player
Taylormade Golf Clubs have proven to be a piece of kit that is incredibly easy to use and I only wish I had acquired them much earlier. 3 rounds in row now within 3 shots of each other is a good initial indicator for me with a 5 shot variance the norm from my statistics. I am not getting any younger and my game is shortening but these clubs have levelled the field a little for me again.
The intended audience for the irons is pretty much anyone who needs to increase their consistency on a week in week out basis. My confidence on longer iron shots really has taken off and I now feel that I can put the ball wherever I want whereas previously it was a get it up there somewhere situation. Taylormade Golf Clubs has releived me of the burden of worrying about all of the technology I should have and allows me to just get on with the game.
Be honest with your own ability when figuring out your sporting equipment requirements. Following this mantra will almost certainly improve your results. Careful design innovation and extensive match experience have resulted in a very wide player audience for the Taylormade Golf Clubs.
Dont get caught out by the shonks when you purchase and always ensure you are happy with the suppliers reputation. We have all seen the ridiculously expensive which I for one dont want to endure to the impossibly cheap with perhaps suspect legitimacy. Here are a few I have used in the past offtogolf.com.au golfsaleadams.com and offtogolf.com.au but check out their discount golf equipment as they quite often just clearout excess stock.

Ravenscroft School's (Raleigh, NC) Ryan Kelly made his official visit to UNC this past Saturday. The 6'11" PF is rated the #3 PF in the 2009 class. Smarter than your average bear, UNC is one of the few schools that Kelly is considering that isn't a private school that plays big time college basketball. Among them includes Duke, Georgetown, and Vanderbilt. Given that the PFs Wear brothers and John Henson has all committed it seems strange that so would Kelly.
