The disillusionment of Wall Street myth has further endangered the already downward global economy, and posed a fresh threat to China's foreign trade, which is already on the verge of collapse.
'The year 2008 has thus far proved to be the most arduous year for China's foreign trade exports since its entry into the WTO,' predicted in the beginning of the year by international authorities. The latest statistics suggested that, from January through to August this year, China's foreign trade exports went up by 22.4 percent, while it was 27,7 percent the same period last year, showing a dim prospect for China's foreign trade.
One of the basic point used to judge the general tendency of China's foreign trade is nothing but the U.S economy. Currently, the sub-prime mortgage crisis is far from conclusion, and the U.S economy has been obviously on the decline. Even worse, the financial storms set up by Frannie Mae and Freddie Mac, both suffering severe bad debts, has been extending all the way from the financial institutions to the economic entities, leading to the weakness of the individual consumption growth, which accounts for 2/3 of the U.S GDP, and the shrinking demands for imports.
Meanwhile, China and the U.S. have been crucial trade partners to each other. But compare with last year, the bilateral trade volume dropped by 3.1 percentage points in the first eight months of the year. In particular, the orders placed for Chinese toys and garments, which used to enjoy a bulky share in the U.S market, turned to a sharp decline. Lehman Brothers, together with another four major investment banks, went bankrupt almost overnight. The 'Domino' effects induced by the precarious U.S economy have already sent many other major economic entities swaying and drifting. More over, the economic growth in the Euro Zone has so far produced no good results in sight.
The Japanese economy has been bogged down in stagnation, and the growth rate of emerging economies have suffered a severe setback, serving as an indication of an impending expansion of the financial crisis from the developed countries into the developing countries, which will unavoidably deliver a harsh blow to China's exports.
On top of that, the exacerbation of the global inflation and the untamed price hike in energy and resources have directly jacked up the production costs; besides, the international ocean freight has also gone up by more than 30 percent. Consequently, the costs gap between the developed countries and the emerging economies will have been narrowed, causing the possible return of international manufacturing industries to the developed countries and their neighboring regions. In a long run, the relative advantages of 'made-in-Chinas' would possibly be offset, and China's competitiveness in exports would be dulled. Additionally, the global geopolitics is getting increasingly complex, neo trade protectionism is looking up, and in future, the trade barriers against China would increase rather than decrease.
From the perspectives of China's domestic situation, with the rise in costs and the revaluation of RMB, as well as the monetary policies, many export-oriented and labor-intensive industries and enterprises cannot run profitably and efficiently in the country's bustling business areas lying along the Yangtze Delta and the Pearl Delta. But generally speaking, the challenges facing China's foreign trade are mostly from outside uncertainties instead of coming within China. At present, the difficulties from both outside and inside are interweaving and accumulating, and the foreign demands continue to shrink. It is expected that in the second half of the year the growth rate in China's exports would see no bounce-back, even though no cascading fall is predicted.
Fortunately, the turning point in China's foreign trade development does not loom ahead. Compared with others, China's present growth rate in exports still remains higher. The basic facets of China's economy stay intact, and its development quality and efficiency tend to look up. Moreover, the 'three carriages' for economic development run more steadily, and the fiscal revenues grow by leaps and bounds; priorities of the macro-economic policy have been shifted from 'two prevents', namely, prevent the economic development from overheating, and prevent the prices hike from evolving into the evident inflation, to 'one guarantee, one prevent', so to speak, besides the prevention of prices hike, the steady and smooth economic development must be guaranteed. As regards China's export economy, there is still enough room for manoeuvre.
Beyond doubt, foreign trade acts as a strong driving force for China's economic growth, and the global economic turbulence could also hit China. But as Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao was quoted as saying in his official visit to the U.S, 'in history, the world economy has gone through ups and downs, but it survived and gained the new momentum for development,' China's economy is now at the stage of restructuring and transformation, and thereby, being cautious and prudent is not only a matter of practical attitude, but more a chance for further development.
It is hard to take omens from Wall Street storm, as it could recur in future, but it is by no means the calamity of exterminating the world. The linchpin for recovery is the ability to convert 'risks' into 'opportunities,' and the confidence, which is considered more valuable than gold when crisis breaks out. It is convincing that China's foreign trade will scale new heights by braving the U.S born financial storms.

In addition to the Harmony 510 remote, Logitech has released a new microphone named Cordless Vantage Microphone, which is compatible with PlayStation2 and PlayStation3.
Priced at $30 and full of promises of being a great microphone, the Vantage has 20 hours of battery life which seems enough to play plenty of games on the gaming consoles. Due to the 2.4GHZ wireless USB receiver that is suppose to have an easy setup process, you can use the mic by being 30 feet away from the PS, and the sound will have a high quality.
A good 2-in-1 combination used in this system is that the receiver is able to hold the microphone when not being used, which saves space.
So what do you need next.

Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he regrets his public branding of Paul Ince as a Big Time Charlie, a verdict that has tarnished the former Manchester United midfielders image.
As Ince, now in charge of Blackburn, prepares to cross managerial swords for the first time with the Old Trafford boss he calls the greatest ever, he insists that Fergies title breakthrough team was crammed with outsize egos.
But while team-mate Mark Hughes christened Sir Alexs infamous hairdryer, it might have been invented for the ever-opinionated Ince - and Ferguson delivered his condemnation on the record in a TV documentary.

Arsene Wenger today made his case for abolishing UEFA's away goal rule that serves as the primary tie-breaker in European competition. The illustrious coach of Arsenal FC told the Guardian he felt "the weight of the away goal is too heavy now tactically - it was created 42 years ago at a stage when the teams that went abroad just defended. But now when you play in your own stadium without conceding you have a good chance to go through. So it has reversed the situation."
Actually, we don't quite follow Wenger's logic here; after all, a team needs to win its home leg, not just play for a 0-0 tie--so it's more than simply not conceding goals at home. Sure, home sides may sit back and defend a 1-0 lead once they have established it. And teams that have the lead coming into the home leg will obviously look to dig in their defenses. But we would think the initial impetus is to attack, at least until the first goal is scored.
Nevertheless, Wenger is right about the away goal being outdated. Not only that, it never really made much sense in the first place. What is so incredibly vital about scoring a goal in a foreign stadium that makes it the defacto tie-breaker? Not only that, but the way the rule is set up now away goals can count as much as double; if a team wins its home leg 2-1 it's not like it has a one goal lead. The game is effectively tied, because once the opposing team scores on the return leg it doesn't only erase the one goal deficit, it goes ahead!
Still, we think the away goal rule serves an important purpose: to significantly reduce the chances that a penalty shoot-out will decide the affair. Take away the rule and you'll suddenly see a massive spike in the amount of penalty shoot-outs. And penalty shoot-outs suck for a whole host of different reasons (too many to list here. Suffice it to say if you like penalty shoot-outs you're either a fan of the Italian national team or an idiot or both). If Monsieur Wenger thinks UEFA competitions are defensive now, let him see what they'd be like without the away goal rule! We'd see every single inferior team on the planet bunkering down and playing for penalties. It's bad enough when that happens during a World Cup or Euro quarter- or semi-final, which are one game. These UEFA matches are two! That's 210 minutes of booo-ring soccer!
So yes, away goals carry too much weight now. But absent a better rule for deciding ties (which has apparently remained elusive ever since medieval townfolk first started kicking around animal intestines) abolishing the rule would be a big mistake. Wenger told the Guardian he presented these views to UEFA and that there was "warm reception" to his idea. Here's hoping it was hot air.

A cartoon is described in the dictionary as being a simple drawing showing the features of its subjects in a humorously exaggerated way. Cartoons have evolved from their origins as preparatory drawings to satirical sketches in newspapers and periodicals in the 1800s, and more recently to an exaggerated representation of human life as shown by modern examples such as The Simpsons.
Although the satirical types of cartoons sketches do still exist, with controversy often surrounding the artist and subject matter, the term cartoon has evolved massively in the last 150 years. A cartoon means something completely different today as TV shows, films, advertisements and comics rely heavily on cartoon characters and the art of illustration in place of realistic drawings or life-like art.
Cartoons, as humorous drawings, originated in 1843 when satirist magazine, Punch, used the term to describe the sketches by artist John Leech. Leechs Cartoon no. 1: Substance and Shadow, shows the first use of the term cartoon in relation to a humorous drawing or satirical sketch.
The political or humorous cartoon had been used for years previously, but Leech was the first to coin the phrase. As early as 1754, Benjamin Franklin created the drawing of a snake in various pieces with the caption Join, or Die to encourage unity amongst the colonies prior to the French and Indian War. The use of editorial cartoons to promote a specific message originated in the early 1700s.
Cartoons were often used to promote political or social awareness, as they would appeal to people of all levels of education with a simple message. An easy-to-understand message would prove invaluable as a persuasive tool and so posters and editorial cartoons would use cartoons with a strap-line create a brief, concise meaning.
The Franklin cartoon was the clever use of an iconic image with a single line to portray a strong message. This type of cartoon became regularly used in the 1900s when gag cartoons would be published in popular magazines including Punch and the New Yorker. One of the key artists, Peter Arno, is widely credited for inventing the gag cartoon when working for New Yorker magazine.
As well as the single-caption gag cartoon, comic strips became popular around this time. Comic Strips originated in the late 19th century in American newspapers. The difference between comic strips and the gag cartoons of the same era, is primarily that of length. The comic strip will tell a story in a series of images with text attached in speech-bubbles or captions.
Some of the most famous comic strips that use this traditional method are still in use today. From its beginning in 1950, the Peanuts comic strip by Charles M. Schulz published a total of 17.897 strips before the death of Schulz signaled the end of the cartoon. The success of the Peanuts comic strip led to the four-panel gag strip becoming the industry standard for comic strips in the United States.
Peanuts would be one of the pioneers of the cartoon transition from comic strip to television and film. Others that would make the move with varied success include Dennis the Menace, Dick Tracy, Andy Capp and Garfield. The motion picture would be the biggest step in the evolution of the cartoon, most famously made by the films of cartoon legend Walt Disney.
Disneys first venture into animated film is shown in the Alice Comedies, a series of short films that combine a real girl with an animated cat, all set in front of an animated landscape. This technique was revolutionary and signaled the direction of future live-action/animations including Who Framed Roger Rabbit? and Space Jam in the 1990s.
Disney would go on to create some of the most influential cartoons in history, including the most recognisable cartoon character of all - Mickey Mouse. Mickey was created in 1928, first appearing in the Plane Crazy cartoon with his long-term beau Minnie. Mickey went on to star in hundreds of cartoons and remains the most popular cartoon character that Disney ever created, ahead of the likes of Donald Duck, Dumbo and Pinocchio.
The change in media to animated film paved the way for some of the most influential cartoons of the 20th century. As well as the massive number of Disney films that would change the landscape of film forever, many other cartoons would light up the silver screen as the years passed. Warner Bros. cartoons began soon after Disneys inception and would introduce the world to a number of amazing characters that remain popular to this day.
Bugs Bunny appeared for the first time on screen in the 1940 animation A Wild Hare. In 2002, Bugs Bunny was named by a popular television magazine as the greatest cartoon character of all time. Other popular Warner Bros. characters include Speedy Gonzales, Daffy Duck and Porky Pig.
Another popular company to produce animated cartoons was the American company, Hanna-Barbera. Responsible for some of the most respected cartoon series in the latter part of the 20th century, Hanna-Barbera produces classics including Tom and Jerry, Scooby-Doo and The Flintstones. These animations would influence some of the biggest hits of the century, as cartoons began to mimic real-life and have more realistic characters instead of the animals or fantasy stories of Disney and Warner Bros.
As the animated film became the most common place to find cartoon characters, the style, themes and techniques changed dramatically. As situation comedies dominated TV schedules on both sides of the Atlantic, animators would look to recreate this style with cartoons as the main characters. Out of this concept, the most popular animated series of all time was born as the world was introduced to The Simpsons.
The Simpsons were as far removed from the likes of Walt Disney as could be possible. The fantasy, fairy-tale style that was so prevalent in Disneys cartoons was replaced by crude, raw animations of a American family. Launched in the late 1980s, the cartoon has remained immensely popular with over 400 episodes and a feature-length movie grossing almost 600 million dollars worldwide.
The Simpsons would be criticised by conservative sections of the US as they claimed it provided bad role-models in the forms of the lazy, incompetent Homer and the naughty, disruptive Bart. The Simpsons would show a normal, working-class family in some realistic and some unrealistic scenarios, yet the characters themselves were always believable and empathetic. The disruptive, anarchic style and often controversial episodes would pave the way for even more controversy and animators pushed the boundaries of acceptability in cartoons.
The most controversial cartoon series of the 20th century would follow The Simpsons with regressive cut-out animation, cartoon violence and satirical story-lines. South Park would parody popular culture and satirise current events, but would arrive amidst a storm of controversy for its toilet humour and offensive language.
174 episodes later, South Park has been running for twelve series and has achieved Academy Award nominations for its feature-length South Park: Bigger, Longer Uncut. Despite its seemingly puerile beginnings, South Park would develop into a cutting social commentary, satirising subjects as diverse as euthanasia, the church of scientology, sexuality and global terrorism.
The Simpsons and South Park represent the current crop of exciting, contemporary cartoons that will influence the cartoons of the future. There are already countless other cartoons that borrow style, themes and humour from these two pace-setters, with the likes of Family Guy, American Dad and Futurama continuing the trend.
However, Disney has been opting for computer animations with its most recent films including Ratatouille, Finding Nemo and WALL-E. So is the art of the cartoon dying out in the modern cartoons home - Florida? With new film-makers, animators and artists always looking for the next-big-thing, cartoons will always be popular for creators and the viewers, so the cartoon will continue to go from strength to strength.

I have a goal with this article: to see how much of the front page I can cover. That being said, it is September 30, 2008, they are in the middle of Game 163, and it is time to talk MLB playoffs. When they started in March, the expectations were high for some, and for others not so high.
But here we are 8well 9 teams for a couple more hours, and 11 victories needed to be World Series Champions. Without further ado, lets pull a MC Hammer and - break it down:
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Chicago White Sox/Minnesota
Breakdown: When I first started thinking about this series, my first reaction was that the extra game may hurt both teams. But then I remembered the Rockies, and I started to reconsider. But neither the White Sox nor the Twins are playing ball like the Rockies from a year ago. Both pitching staffs for the Twins and the White Sox are formidable. The Rays pitching staff of Sonnastine, Shields and Kazmir is very tough. While the Rays bullpen may be its strength, their offense is average. The return of Longoria and Crawford should help, but for the most part the Rays offense has been average at best. The Rays have been incredible in late game comebacks, but all of the bullpens in the playoffs, especially closers, are tough. The Rays boast the best home record this year in the Majors and will be playing in front of capacity crowds at home. Will they be able to continue to win close games? Will their offense be enough? The Rays youth didnt show at the end of the year. Will it show in the playoffs?
As of the other half of this series. The Twins are playing Minnesota Twin baseball - and I mean that as a compliment. Ron Gardenhire has to considered one of the best managers in the game. Fundamentally sound, the Twins dont make mistakes, and will make you beat them. Mauer and Morneau are tough. The White Sox have a lineup full of power and have lived and died by the home run all season. Will that continue? Most of the White Sox have been there before. Will their experience count in a series against the youthful Rays. It is still 0-0 in the 7th, so I cant lean either way with who the Rays are playing.
The Result: There is no place like home, and the Rays move on in 5 games.
Boston Red Sox vs. The Los Angeles Anaheim Orange County Burbank Angels
Breakdown: No sooner did I jump off the Rays/Sox series, and Thome just hit a bomb. I mean a BOMB. The Boston Red Sox are back to defend their title and when healthy, I would take the Red Sox starting pitching in a 5-game series. The keyword: HEALTHY. There are question marks surrounding the health of Josh Beckett, who makes any pitching staff the best in the playoffs. In fact there are a lot of health questions surrounding the Sox, which makes me believe this isnt their year. I would list all of the players that have made a trip to the DL this year, but the battery on my computer only lasts so long. The Angels addition of Texiera at the deadline made them the team to beat, and in my mind they are still the team to beat in the AL. That being said, I am not a fan of winning your division with 2 or 3 weeks to play and coasting the rest of the season. If and I mean IF, the Sox can take 1 of 2 in LA, and Beckett is healthy - dont be surprised if they take this series. They also need either Drew or Lowell to be healthy enough to contribute. All of that and I think there are too many ifs.
The Angels also have a superior bullpen - the Red Sox bullpen isnt bad, just the Angels is that much better. Sciosia has this team manufacturing runs and also hitting home runs.

The end of the baseball season is a good time to evaluate the Phillies broadcast team.
In general, these guys are terrific. Baseball is the only sport I follow with any dedication or genuine interest. Because I travel a lot, I see and hear baseball games in several cities.
Most play-by-play announcers and color commentators are boring next to the crew the Phillies have assembled to present its games. At first I thought I was not adjusting well to various styles. Then I realized that personality and keen knowledge of the game were missing from broadcasters from other cities.
The Mets radio team can lull you into indifference.
The Yankees radio team is saved only by a cranky woman who is so New Yawk shes entertaining if not always informative.
The Phillies crew know how to have a conversation and instruct their audience about the fine points of the game. They also have a camaraderie I havent found anywhere else with the exception of the marvelous work done by Jon Miller and Joe Morgan on nationally televised games. Miller and Morgan have been itinerant based on the network that has the Major League Baseball contract at any given time. Right now theyre on ESPN, and they do the cable outlet proud. Compare them to the stiffs heard on Saturday afternoon Fox broadcasts, and their superiority will be amply apparent.
So, a general bravo to the guys in the Phillies TV and radio booths and to the Phillies organization for hiring them.
A great team still has room for improvement. Two members of that team stand out beyond their colleagues. One is a classic fixture who certainly sets the tone and pace for Phillies broadcasts. One is a solid journeyman who can hold his own but needs to develop more zip to his conversation. Two need work. Not serious work, but work nonetheless.
The standouts are Chris Wheeler, who generally stays on television but makes occasional visits to the radio booth, and Larry Andersen, who has grown from a grumpy amateur to a showman that not only makes baseball games fun but a lesson in baseball fundamentals and best practices.
Wheeler is a baseball guy in the same way Charlie Manuel or Larry Bowa is. Hes in the game his whole working life. He just never appeared on the field. Im not sure of Wheelers entire history, but I know he began his life with the Phillies in the teams community affairs department. In that post, he helped begin something that is a Philadelphia sports tradition, bringing the benefit of the team and its players to charities, social events, schools, and the region at large. Scrappy in the way of a disciplined Philadelphia fan, Wheelers style of talk must have impressed someone in the Phillies broadcast division some 20 years back because he joined Harry Kalas, Richie Ashburn, and Andy Musser as what seemed like a guest and later moved in to claim a permanent place in the booth. Wheeler, with his Philadelphia accent and fans take on the action, was the first person I remember giving some criticism about the game and how it was played. He openly praised great work by other teams and expressed dismay at Phillies mistakes. He did it with the or zeal of a guy in the stands. As time went on, he refined his act, but the spirit and style of his original appearances remains. is the guy on the Phillies team I want to hear most.
When Larry Andersen left the bullpen for the broadcast booth, he was funny and offhand, but he was mean. For someone so bright, he was a downer, more of a complainer than a critic and always negative. You didnt have to imagine his sigh when the Phils made a bonehead move. His attitude in those early days was, What do you expect from these lunks. They couldnt do anything right if they tried.
But Andersen has grown out of being a grump. In a surprising but wonderful transition, he has learned to comment on the game, at times critically, with the same humor in which he constantly makes mic-mate Scott Franzke laugh and delights the Phillies audience with his antics. Andersen has found a tone that gives his critical words an entertaining bite. You know he knows the game, and he presents what he sees in a breezy and positive tone that is compatible with being the clown to Franzkes straight man at other times. Radio games are a delight because of Larry Andersen. When he gets the chance to work with or Harry, he is particularly outstanding.
Kalas is a legend. His outta here home run call is as much a part of baseball history as home run records. Harry is indelible no matter what else happens. Older now, fans can hear the missed beat and the lapse in concentration. Again, Harry is indelible, and any signs of age are superseded by his smooth, conversational presentation of a baseball game - or, in Harrys case, any sports event - and his knowledge of the game. More than anyone, Harry Kalas established the ease and energy that is so much a part of Phillies broadcasts. It remains a pleasure to see and hear him.
The journeyman is Tom McCarthy, able and facile at the mike, a good play-by-play man but a worklike professional who doesnt quite have the guy-in-the-stands breeze to his voice. While most of the Phillies broadcasters know their jobs and that their main focus needs to be the game, they can be jaunty and offhand. McCarthy is all business.
He is not boring, like that awful crew from Atlanta or the dead-heads that bring you San Diego games, but McCarthy does not exude the personality that has come to be expected from a Phillies broadcaster. Maybe thats his role, to be the Mary Tyler Moore who anchors the team while the others are more distinct character and show off their ability to chat. McCarthy can learn from Kalas, who was that anchor for most of the last 38 years and could keep up the patter with Ashburn, Tim McCarver, and others of large personality with whom he shared the booth. McCarthy is an asset, but he is standard issue in a market that leans toward the special.
The two who need work are Gary Matthews and Franzke.
Matthews is a baseball guy who has not yet become a broadcaster. He knows the game, but his presentation of it lacks fluidity, and he hasnt learned when to come in with a comment and when to stay mute. His conversational style is OK, but his speech pattern is slower than Wheelers, McCarthys, or Kalas, so he gives the impression of bogging down the broadcast when he takes the mike. When Matthews is on, you miss the announcer who isnt, especially if its Wheeler. as Matthews is called, has something to contribute, but he is not the best fit for the Phillies team.
Franzke could be perfect. Hes personable. His byplay with Andersen is amusing and charming. He knows the game. He has a good pace and lively rhythm to his play-by-play. He also describes everything in complete and meticulous detail without being tedious or boring. The problem is his tone. Franzke is statistic happy. In and of itself, that is not a failing. Anyone who knows me knows you can never bore me with stats. On the contrary, my eyes light up when I see spreadsheets and twelve-page reports. Franzkes downfall is the way he presents the stats. His tone betrays a doom and gloom. Nothing is matter-of-fact. His attitude seems to be one of Look at this. This guy hit a home run off of Moyer in 02, and now hes up against him with a catcher in scoring position and the Phillies eight runs ahead. Disaster approacheth. Franzkes way of reading simple facts always sounds like a danger signal. In a different way from Andersen during his first days, Franzke is negative. He worries about things of casual interest, and he spreads that worry to the audience. Franzkes goal for 2009 is to learn to put things is less gloomy perspective, to take the figures he has before him and presents them in his stride. His oh, no tone is annoying. It puts a pall on the game, even games in which the Phillies are ahead and - probably - sailing toward victory. Franzke makes you expect the worst while never seeming to appreciate the best. If Andersen wasnt next to him, Id turn off the radio and risk traffic calamity by going to www.mlb.com, setting my laptop, a constant companion, on Gameplay, and following the game that way. (Gameplay has audio, but Im sure if I could trust myself not to look at the screen at an exciting moment or if Chase Utley or Jayson Werth (MVUP - Most Valuable Utility Player - is batting.)
I hope Franzke can make the adjustment to a cheerier or more casual presentation. If he cant, then his one glitch outweighs his many talents because that glitch ruins the broadcast. For me, anyhow.
Mitch Williams and Jim Jackson are also part of the Phillies radio experience, Williams also appearing post-game on Comcast SportsNet. They are both excellent additions to the local baseball scene. Williams is offhand and can deliver criticism in a way from which Franzke can learn. Jackson is a burst of sustained energy - and good writing - from the time he takes the mike following Phillies radio games. Few could make a list of scores more vibrant. Joe is a consummate broadcaster who Id like to hear try his hand at baseball play-by-play or color commentary. I know hed be terrific.
A pink tint to the sky
Starting Wednesday evening, buildings throughout the Delaware Valley will be lit in a pink cast to support breast cancer awareness via an annual initiative by the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer organization and major sponsorship by Channel 3.
So if you gaze up at the night sky around Philadelphia and think you see pink, your eyes are fine and youre seeing support to remind people about an all-too-common disease from realtors and businesses who want people to know there are resources available if breast cancer strikes.

A power-sharing agreement signed in Zimbabwe between those gunning for power was unlikely to bring quick economic relief according to analysts.
The deal, signed between former President Robert Mugabe and political rival Morgan Tsvangirai would see Tsvangirai filling a new post as prime minister. Mugabe would become president again, and a deputy prime minister position would be filled by Arthur Mutambara, a leader of a splinter party.
The once bread-basket of southern African is little short of a basket case after more than a decade of poor rule by Mugabes ZANU-PF party saw the countrys economy shrink by at least 65 percent. Inflation reached 11.2 million percent in June.
The historic deal has been seen by many as an opportunity for Zimbabwe to rebuild itself and reclaim the wealth it once had, but Harare-based economist John Robertson said the economy would continue to struggle for years.
Despite the deal, this years economic shrinkage will be worse. Confidence in the country is low. There has been a lot of skills flight. The change is going to be very, very slow, Robertson said.
The new government would inherit $4-billion in external debt and domestic debt of $79.9-million, as well as a currency that has already had 13 zeroes removed from it in a vain attempt to prop up the free-falling Zimbabwean dollar.
The three leaders have agreed that the government will lead the process of developing and implementing an economic recovery strategy and plan.
However, working together may be difficult.
It looks like Morgan has been cheated in this deal, they (MDC) don't have anything other than to shuffle papers and thats it, said Robertson.
University of Harare Professor Anthony Hawkins added that although foreign assistance could mean a growing economy by the first half of 2009, lost productivity would take years to redevelop.
Getting back to where we were in the 1990s, it would take us another 10 years and getting back to the 1980s, it would take us another 15 years, said Hawkins.
The International Monetary Fund has already agreed to hold talks with the new government after ending their relationship with Zimbabwe over un-paid debt in 2006, while the European Union has decided against immediately lifting sanctions, saying they would monitor the situation.

Buzz Aldrin was scheduled for a phone interview on the Friday, June 8, 2007, edition of Your World with Neil Cavuto on the Fox News cable channel. Originally booked to talk about the latest space shuttle launch, he suddenly found himself being asked about Paris Hilton and had some very interesting things to say. Friday, June 8, 2007, should have been a big news day. A former Preacher's Wife was sentenced to three years in prison for shooting her husband in the back while he slept. A Tax Protestor couple in New Hampshire discovered what happens when you challenge the authority of people you elect to office: You get state police and an army of federal troops with tanks and federal agents with submachine guns at your door.

Dear Mrs Goodridge,
We are deeply saddened by your passing away on Tuesday 2nd September. We remember you as a kind and lovely lady who always had a smile and was ever helpful. We will miss you. May your soul rest in heaven's peace.
"Love is stronger than death even though it can't stop death from happening, but no matter how hard death tries it can't separate people from love. It can't take away our memories either. In the end, life is stronger than death."
Dont grieve for me, for now Im free
Im following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My lifes been full, I savored much
Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Dont lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
God wanted me now; He set me free.
[Butterfly Memorial Poems]
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!
[Mary Frye, 1932]
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Whatever we were to each, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be the household word it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same as it ever was;
there is absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of your mind
because I am out of your sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near just around the corner...
All is well. Nothing is past, nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before,
only better, infinitely happier
and forever we will be one together.

A group of eight University of Waterloo undergrads are working on what will be the worlds smallest radio-frequency controlled robot. Measuring a ridiculously small 300 by 300 micronsthe width of two human hairsthe robot will play soccer. Soccer is often used as a test for robotics programmers, because the sport requires intelligence and dexterity that is highly desirable in a robot. The team wants to win the RoboCup Nanogram soccer competition next July in Australia.
In the competition the robot will have to move balls, avoid obstacles, and navigate around a field, all at a fraction of a millimeter. The technology could be implemented irl in interesting ways, most notably in medicine, where a controllable entity of this small scale would be beneficial. It could help in the fertilization of an egg or in the identification of a serious bacterial infection.
The team is basically taking RC-car technology to the nano level. Team founder Keith Peiris describes the bots movement mechanism almost like a car with a balloon on it, in that were displacing air to push a device in different ways. With crafty engineering and a very, very small antenna, this little robot just may be one day swimming through your blood vessels, collecting cholesterol from a lifetime of fatty foods and sedentary behavior. Godspeed, little robot.

It is the same as it ever was;
there is absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of your mind
because I am out of your sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,

* Well that is what they say anyway. Apparently in an upcoming book called THE HIDDEN FACE OF ZIDANE the legendary French national team player will produce a form of an apology where he admits it was a horrible mistake when he head-butted Italian defender MARCO MATERAZZI in the 2006 WORLD CUP FINAL.
Only moments earlier Zidane had nearly put the French up with a header which may have propelled them on to victory and place him alongside PELE and MARADONA as the greatest players in the game.
*Zidanes former REAL MADRID teammmate David Beckham got some scary news recently when LA police beefed up his familys security after being alerted he is one of a list of LA celebs whose children have been targeted by kidnappers. Beckham and his family have lived through these problems before in England. In fact he once stared an intruder down through his window while home alone in England.
*Beckhams former team MANCHESTER UNITED are off to a slow start and have a huge game this Sunday when they take on EPL leaders CHELSEA and FELIPE SCOLARI. This is must see tv.
*DYNAMO head coach Dominic Kinnear and players will work the FEMA POD at UH today. After postponement of the San Jose game on Saturday the team is next up in Panama against SAN FRANCISCO FC this Tuesday in Concacaf Champions League play. The following Saturday the team heads to the artficial turf of BMO Stadium to take on Toronto.
So back to the postponement of the game, if this were the Astros or Texans would they have postponed this game on Saturday or would it have been a moment for the city to heal after the Hurricane? Would it have been a morale booster. I can tell you through my responses, fans wanted to attend this game. Yet if personal safety truly is the issue then the smartest of decisons was made by the City. So would you have attended? Is the Hurricane too fresh for sporting events? What happened to getting back to normal as soon as possible or is the area still not secure enough?
You tell me..

Details of this week's break-in, if authentic, were consistent with speculation by computer security experts who said Yahoo's "forgot-my-password" service almost certainly was exploited. The mechanism allows customers to retrieve or change their password if they can verify their identity by confirming personal information such as birthdate, zip code and the answer to a "secret question," such as a childhood pet's name or school mascot.

Forbes Services Thunder will get a glimpse at the strength of their major Lachlan Soccer rivals this Sunday as they take on league leaders Cowra 1 at Cowra.
Sunday marks the completion of the round robin and Forbes can leapfrog Cowra into top spot with a victory.
The sides are set to meet at least twice more this season as LASA splits into divisions ahead of semi-finals and finals.
Parkes Rovers and Tichborne Tigers will make up the rest of the top division.
While Thunder can sneak into top spot, a loss would leave them vulnerable to Rovers, who host struggling Condobolin in the last round.
Tichborne may also move up a notch with two games in hand, against League Jets and Commercial Saints, the latter of whom forfeited to Condobolin last round. Divisions will be created after Sundays games with the top four teams in division one, the next four teams in division two and the remaining five sides making up third grade.
